An exploration of how we will ensure machine learning systems remain safe and ethically used.

Over the last few years great strides in machine intelligence have been made thanks to inspiration from the human brain. Learning machines are now able to be trained how to recognise speech and faces. They are becoming better at language translation. They can outperform us in various games, including both strategy and real time tactical games. They are more capable than humans in diagnosing some illnesses. We are training machines rather than programming them. How will these learning machines be used? What are the implications for human labour? Should we regulate them? At what point do they deserve rights?
