Speakers and MC

Most of NetHui will be made up of breakout sessions that are designed by the community in the programme development. But on top of this we also have high profile keynote speakers and a great panel session for the plenary room. Check out the awesome speakers we've confirmed so far!

Jillian York - our international keynote

Jillian C. York is a writer and activist focused on the intersection of technology and policy. Based in Berlin, she currently serves as the Director for International Freedom of Expression at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where she works on free expression, privacy, and digital security.

Jillian is a fellow at the Center for Internet and Human Rights at the European University Viadrina and a member of the Deep Lab collective. She serves on the IFEX Council, the steering committee of the Web We Want, and on the Advisory Boards of SMEX, R-Shief, and the Engine Room.

Pia Waugh - keynote address

Pia is an open government and data ninja and is currently the Service Integration Lead for the Service Innovation Work Programme at The Department of Internal Affairs.

She works within the public sector machine to enable greater transparency, democratic engagement, citizen-centric design and real, pragmatic actual innovation in the public sector and beyond. She believes that tech culture has a huge role to play in achieving better policy planning, outcomes, public engagement and a better public service all round. She is also trying to do her part in establishing greater public benefit from publicly funded data, software and research. Pia was awarded as one of the top 100 most influential women in Australia for 2014.

Michele A’Court - our fabulous MC

We are so thrilled to announce we have secured the very funny and talented Michele A’Court to be our MC. Michele has blessed us with her witty MC’ing at a number of NetHuis and is always a huge hit with all attendees.
